Balam K’u (Meaning Jaguar Sacred in Mayan)
Part of the artists challenge for FC. We decided on felines and we each chose a color out of a hat. Mine is Green as you can see. ;) The feline I chose was a black Panther Aztec style with a jade jaguar skull. Had a lot of fun with this one!

Original will be for sale at Further Confusion 2010

8" x 11" original in a 11”x14” frame. Original is double matted UV plexiglass Medium is acrylic inks, marker, colored pencil.

This is a Khajiit, no doubt. I saw this piece before, just still love it. And who cares if Mayan or Aztec stuff it wears, both folk captured or killed those animals, like humans do. Shame on mankind.

Wish Khajiit looked this good. Maybe Bethseda should see this.
I myself wish the Khajiit weren't all just straight assassins. That like one sex could be offensive thief and the other thief warrior hybrid-cuz they've done every other hybrid.

is this based on the idea that the warriors of the mayans/aztecs wore jaguar pelts and were called jaguar warriors? Because if so then it is a really cool use of concept! If not.......it fits, really well.

Wow, gorgeous! I love what how worked with the green as the dominant color. I'd love to know what Indiana Jones would do if he ran into /this/ guy in a dark, "abandoned" temple!

I luv yur anatomy, I know there's no REAL anatomy for furries/hanimals/humanimal, whatever you liek to call them but you could definetly create one! We're studying native mexicans right now, you know aztecs, mayans, and looking at the mayan portraits, this looks like an authentic shaman. Again REALLY awesome job!

This is really good.

Yet it also raises a point with me where anthros are concerned because it's well done.

Because of the anchor points for the muscles at the back of the skull most animals, if they were to truly stand upright and not crane their necks forward (is that the right terminology?), would be basically putting their chins near their throats.

Possible ... but not necessarily comfortable.

Yet to have the base of the skull and attachment of muscles positioned differently, as it is with humans, would make lifting the head from a horizontal stance even more uncomfortable (I know this well, as it's what I had to do as an offensive lineman back in the day).

Your awareness of anatomy, of course, would make for a good basis for any answer to this.... Not that I'm pestering you to solve it for me (or anyone) but merely to state the fact ... just prior to thanking you for tolerating my moments of head slapping befuddlement. :)
