Mandrill warrior done with mechanical pencil on 9x12 Bristol.
One of my favorite drawings! I was inspired after seeing the remake of planet of the apes. I know the mandrill is not an ape but I just could not resist. They are so cool looking and I just love those teeth, I figured one would make an excellent warrior. I went gung ho on the armor as I sometimes do but it complements his fur and helps give a bit of contrast. Not sure if I will ever get around to coloring this as it would be more of a personal thing.

christ, you could get lost in that armor! the celtic patterns are beautifully done^^

his expression is priceless, and it's neat to see how you pull off longer hair instead of the normal, shorter wolf fur.

you should be pro by now, are any of your works in galleries, etc?

How can you not love a mandrill, really?

Heh, Mandrills don't often get to be anthro-subjects. What luck that this one gets to be drawn by you! I absolutely adore your ability to accurately depict the flow and texture of fur, and even the clothing and armour plates!

In futility lies strength. If you fail, you lose nothing. If you succeed, you have achieved the seemingly impossible.
